My midwife recommended I visit Dr. Ptak to help prepare for my upcoming home birth. Prior to my first visit, I’d never felt my baby kick on the left side of my body. I had never considered chiropractic care as I do not have back pain or bad posture but I was intrigued about aiding my baby to be in a proper position for an uncomplicated home birth. The morning after my visit I felt my baby kick on my left! I was very impressed. I’ve gone 3 times now and after every visit I feel my baby play more and more on my left than ever before! I’m due Nov.1 and plan to go once or twice weekly up until the birth.
I also want to mention, Dr. Ptak looked at my body during the first visit and noticed that I held my head in a way such a way that my left eye was a tad lower than my right. He cautiously asked “Does one of your parents have a spinal deviance?” I was shocked but said, “Yes, my mother has scoliosis!” He looked relieved and said “I’m glad you said scoliosis, I didn’t want to throw that word around.” Dr. Ptak even knew which way my mom’s spine curves based on my posture (and I’m often complimented on my good posture, this was a very minor misalignment in me). Given, there are lots of people with back problems in the world, yet I was impressed he knew the direction of my mom’s curvature and that he was bold enough to assert it could be a parent, not just a “family member” with the condition.
I told this story to my mom and she insisted she needed to meet him next time she visits (she lives in AZ). We just went today and Dr. Ptak and his assistant Eduard spent a good amount of time acquainting themselves with my mom’s history and ailments to assess her needs and even offered to work with her chiropractor in Arizona to set up a better exercise regimen for her to follow! Mom is going back every day until she leaves for home! It was encouraging to see my mom get this care and to have Dr. Ptak and his team work so attentively with her.
